s0m (our sova player in the clip), just killed 2 and knows where sage is through footstep.
Our best deduction on why he chose to swing off timing are: He is at 30hp, Sage just needs 1 bullet or 2 through wallbang to kill him. He is at an angle disadvantage, Sage can see him earlier than s0m can. He doesn't want to gamble for the round, he could choose to not peek and try to read the opponent, but he prefers not to. He has no recon util left (drone and arrow), he has to get info with his body.
Due to the round being massively favored for the enemy Sage, the one advantageous fight s0m can take is the exact moment the Sage is in the defuse animation. As seen in the clip, s0m had enough time to shoot 5 bullets before Sage shoots a single one.
